Denver Business Journal - by Kansas City Business Journal

Small-business owners struggle to provide health insurance for their employees and don’t feel confident about deciding what health insurance best fits employees’ needs, according to a survey by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

The survey, conducted July 22-31 among 500 small-business decision-makers, points out the need for more insurance education, the organization said in a Tuesday statement.

Among survey respondents, 64 percent of small business owners said they aren’t confident choosing a health insurance policy that fits their budgets and their employees’ needs. One-third of respondents said they can’t afford to provide health insurance to employees.
